Aciphex, brand for Rabeprazole is used for treating ulcers of the
stomach and duodenum, erosive or
ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and Zollinger-Ellison
Syndrome (in which there is
overproduction of acid caused by tumors). It also is used with
antibiotics for eradicating Helicobacter
pylori infections of the stomach that, along with acid, are
responsible for many ulcers.
Rabeprazole is in a class of drugs called proton pump inhibitors (PPI)
which block the enzyme in the
wall of the stomach that produces acid. |

Lactulose is a type of sugar. It is broken down into mild acids in
the colon (the end part of the
intestinal tract). These acids draw water into the colon and thereby
soften the stool.
Lactulose is used to treat constipation but may also be used for
purposes other than those listed here.
Before taking this medication, tell your doctor if you are diabetic,
require a diet low in galactose,
or require a proctoscopy or colonoscopy. |

Tagamet is is known as a histamine blocker and is prescribed for the

active duodenal (upper intestinal)

stomach contents); prevention of upper abdominal bleeding in those

Colospa, brand for MEBEVERINE acts directly on the smooth muscle in
the gut causing it to relax.
It also prevents nerve signals getting through to the muscle in the

antispasmodic effect was seen on the
uterus and the bronchial muscles. No significant inhibition of
normal peristalsis has been observed.
Primary irritable colon characterised by persistent diarrhoea,
alternating constipation and diarrhoea,
abdominal pain and postprandial distension. Secondary irritable
colon due to organic lesions such as
regional enteritis, diverticulitis, specific and non-specific
inflammatory conditions of the

Cyotec prevents stomach ulcers and stomach irritation in patients
taking pain and arthritis drugs
such as aspirin or ibuprofen, for long periods of time.
If you are a woman of childbearing age, you may take misoprostol to
prevent ulcers only if you have
had a negative pregnancy test in the past 2 weeks and if you use a
reliable method of birth control
while taking misoprostol. Misoprostol may cause miscarriages,
premature labor, or birth defects.
Discuss with your doctor about the risks of taking misoprostol. |
