Seretide (Fluticasone + Salmeterol) is a combination (salmeterol and fluticasone) "controller" medicine.
It is used long-term to help control the symptoms and improve lung function for sufferers of asthma
and chronic lung diseases. It should not be used to treat a sudden symptom of shortness of breath
(eg, sudden severe onset or worsening of wheezing, cough, chest tightness), or an acute asthma attack
because it does not work right away.
Other brand names include: Advair, Adoair, ForAir, Viani.

Serevent (Salmeterol) is a beta receptor stimulant used to prevent or minimize problems in persons
with breathing difficulties including asthma and chronic obstructive disorders of the lungs (COPD) that
includes chronic bronchitis and emphysema. It works by opening the air passages in the lungs to
improve breathing and can also be used to prevent bronchospasm (breathing difficulties) during
exercise. It will not stop an asthma attack once one has started. Salmeterol is often combined with
another effective controller-type asthma medicine (such as an inhaled corticosteroid).
Other brand names include: Serobid, Aeromax, Arial, Fujimycin, Salmetedur.

Singulair (Montelukast) is a leukotriene receptor antagonist (LTRA) used for the prevention and
long-term treatment of asthma. Singulair is also used to prevent exercise-induced bronchoconstriction
(narrowing of the air passages in the lungs) in people who are not already taking this medicine for
other conditions. It can also be used to relieve allergy symptoms.
Other brand names include: Lukair, Lukasm, Montair, Montegen, Singular.

Spiriva (Tiotropium) is a long-acting, 24 hour, anticholinergic bronchodilator used in the management
of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It is used to prevent bronchospasm (narrowing of the
airways in the lungs) in people with bronchitis, emphysema, or COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary
disease). Do not use Spiriva to treat a bronchospasm attack that has already begun. It will not work
fast enough to reverse the symptoms.

Solone (Prednisolone) is a corticosteroid. Corticosteroids are hormones produced naturally by the
adrenal glands which have many important functions, including control of inflammatory responses.
Prednisolone is used to treat endocrine (hormonal) disorders when the body does not produce enough
of its own steroids. It is also used to treat many immune and allergic disorders, such as arthritis,
lupus, severe psoriasis, severe asthma, ulcerative colitis, and Crohn's disease.
Other brand names include: Deltacortril, Deltasone.
Terbutaline (Generic Brethine/Bricanyl) is used to treat the symptoms of asthma, chronic obstructive
pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchitis and emphysema. Terbutaline is a bronchodilator (beta-2 receptor
agonist) that works by opening breathing passages to make breathing easier.
Other brand names include: Briancyl, Brethine, Brican, Bricar, Bricaril, Bricyn.
Vicrom 5 (Nedocromil sodium) classified as a cromone, a type of anti-inflammatory medicine that is
not a corticosteroid. It acts as a mast cell stabilizer, reducing the inflammation in the lungs and
therefore making it easier to breathe and helping to prevent asthma attacks. It should be used
regularly, even when there are no asthmatic symptoms. Nedocromil can also be useful for preventing
shortness of breath caused by exercise.
Other brand names include: Alocril, Nedocromil, Nedocromilo, Tilade.
Xopenex (Levosalbutamol Sulphate) is a bronchodilator that relaxes muscles in the airways and
increases air flow to the lungs. It is used to treat or prevent bronchospasm in people with reversible
obstructive airway disease and to prevent exercise-induced bronchospasm.
Other brand names include: Levlen

Theophylline is a bronchodilator used to treat the symptoms of asthma, bronchitis and emphysema.
It works by relaxing muscles in the lungs and chest, and makes the lungs less sensitive to allergens
and other causes of bronchospasm. The use of theophylline is complicated by the fact that it interacts
with various drugs, so its use must be monitored to avoid toxicity. Tell your doctor about all the
prescription and over-the-counter medications you use including vitamins, minerals, herbal products
and drugs prescribed by other doctors. Theophylline is also known as dimethylxanthine.
Other brand names include: Elixophyllin, Respbid, Slo-Bid, TheoCap, Theochron, Slo-Phyllin.

Ventolin/Volmax (Albuterol, Salbutamol) is a type of medicine known as a short-acting
beta 2 agonist and works by acting on receptors in the lungs called beta 2 receptors. When Salbutamol
stimulates these receptors it causes the muscles in the airways to relax which allows the airways to
open. Salbutamol is specifically indicated for acute asthma; symptom relief during maintenance therapy
of asthma and other conditions with reversible airways obstruction (including COPD and bronchitis).
It is also used for protection against exercise-induced asthma.
Other brand names include: Aerolin, Asthalin, Proventil, Teva, Ventorlin.
